Next Generation Ford 3543T was shot by Skyrocket in Dubai
Ford Middleeast’s new generation Ford 3543T Truck was filmed on April 2018 in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai.
Ford team contacted Skyrocket on March to brief our team for this very unique product film production project, which had to be finalized before Ford Dealers Meeting scheduled for April on Bab el Shams.
Pre-production: Before creating the scenario, we had to think of the location, permissions, equipment and traffic more detailed than ever as it was going to be the biggest moving object we were ever to shoot.
“The main challange was organising the time frame properly in conjunction with all these variables” said Kivanc Kilicer, director of the project.
For shooting a big moving object, we needed some special equipments like extra-big cranes, dollies, panther and a very well balanced steady cam. What’s more, we had to use wired camera control as the distance between camera (in crane) and bluetooth controller was longer than normal conditions.
Once Pre-Production has been completed, a filming schedule was produced. The Call Sheet is provided to all team members the night before every shoot and contained all information as to what will be undertaken the following day.
Location: Nad Al Sheba was the perfect location to shoot Downtown area perfectly lit by early morning sun before the truck enters into the frame.
“We needed a road that was absolutely straight for as long as possible,” added İbrahim, location manager. “And with Downtown, Burj Khalifa view preferably in a closed off area so we could work and prepare undisturbed.”
Shooting: Excited to begin shooting this powerful machine, Skyrocket team marched to the first filming location at 5.00 am to setup the equipment. The crew was ready for action.
“The gorgeous Ford offers more than enough personality in stock form, and would be no difficult for anyone to become attached to” said Selim, project’s DoP.
A Blackmagic Ursa Mini pro 4.6 was used for all-in-one shot mounted on a Scorpio Arm Camera Car. We also used Canon 24-70 and Sigma 18-35 lenses for sharp and raw video shooting.
Post: Skyrocket Turkish team did the grading with Davinci Resolve and it worked like a charm. “But our UAE team paved the way by shooting with the correct exposure and light at all times, so it was hard not to succeed” says Ayse Yildirim, Post Production
Highlighting the specs of the truck in an animation was another major issue as we promised to keep the video short. We created an animated sci-fi background and positioned the masked footage on top, highlighting the features nice and clean on edges.

Despite the challenges including tight deadlines for getting the municipality filming permit, windy weather conditions and special traffic permissions for the truck, Skyrocket team proudly delivered this unique project on time and with success using both studios in UAE and in Turkey.
“During the 3 days of filming, we had so many overlapping plans and “what if” situations with the weather and traffic. Yet we were so organised that everything fell into place at the last moment. From the camera crew, to our amazing editor, producers, lighting and assistants everyone had to react and work as efficient as possible” said Kivanc Kilicer.

WhatsApp Tests Its Version of Snapchat Stories
If Facebook can copy Snapchat and Instagram can copy Snapchat, why shouldn’t WhatsApp copy Snapchat?
Manish Singh of Mashable reported that the Facebook-owned messaging application is testing a feature called Status that mirrors Snapchat Stories.
According to Singh, the Status feature is included in the newest public beta versions of WhatsApp’s iOS and Android apps, and it allows users to share multiple updates in one day, including photos and videos, as well as to include photos and videos from their libraries and the ability to doodle over that content and add text.
Singh added that the feature only works on jailbroken iPhones or rooted Android phones, and Ritesh Bendre of BGR India added that Android users must download this app in order to use Status.
